Were your parents the perfect example of what not to do? Did they use a wooden paddle? Or say "because I said so" in response to your insatiable curiosity. Were you sent to your room repeatedly? Or told you couldn't do it? Was childhood something to survive versus thrive in?

The connection between colors and feelings is probably the most simple and profound. I would suggest even more powerful for young children without the words to convey their feelings.

"The essential nature of the mind is purity" stated His Holiness the Dalai Lama. I believe this to be true. It appears to me that a child's mind is the quintessential example of purity awaiting more human involvement, interactions and connections for its amazing expansion.

Biologically speaking

Encouraging your child's creative expression during this Thanksgiving week is beneficial on so many levels (i.e. developmentally, socially, cognitively, emotionally, expressively and biologically). It is especially valuable for children experiencing persistent negative emotions (i.e. sadness, anger, grief...).

It's the call of your child's unique talents.  Always is it seeking to find a safe and supportive place to shine.   Be it the beating of a drum or drawing of a butterfly.  These are the breadcrumbs of his or her brilliance.
